Food Sustainability Estimator

A planned tool for estimating nutrition, environmental impact, and nutrient-flow insights for food products, recipes, dishes, and menus.

What this tool will do

The Food Sustainability Estimator is the first business-focused MVP for SustainabilityFlows. It will help turn food data into clear decision-support and report-ready insights.

1. Food or recipe input

Enter a product, dish, ingredient list, serving size, or small menu for analysis.

2. Nutrition estimate

Estimate energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals using food composition data.

3. Sustainability estimate

Connect ingredients to estimated climate, water, land, waste, and resource-use indicators where data is available.

4. Nutrient-flow explanation

Explain carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, water, organic matter, and circularity logic in plain language.

5. Business-ready report

Create a clear summary that can support product comparison, menu planning, customer communication, or improvement decisions.

6. Confidence level

Show whether the estimate is high, medium, or low confidence based on data quality and ingredient matching.

Try the live food database search

Search food items from the imported Livsmedelsverket food composition database. Nutrient names are shown in English. Select a result to view nutrient values per 100 g.

Live API ready.

grams
Select a food item first, then add it to your recipe/product.

Planned input fields

The first working version should stay simple. It will start with manual input before we connect APIs.

Product or dish name

Example: lentil soup, oat drink, chicken wrap, beef burger, salad bowl, bakery product, or full menu item.

Ingredient list

Ingredients and quantities in grams, kilograms, or portions where available.

Serving size

Per 100 g, per serving, or per full recipe/menu item.

Origin and supplier details

Optional details that can improve sustainability assumptions and confidence level.

Planned data sources

Later versions can connect trusted food and sustainability data sources. All estimates should remain transparent about assumptions and limitations.
